Vintage Red Star Baking Powder Tin - 10lbs - 1960's Universal Foods Container

{HISTORY}

This large vintage Red Star tin came to life in the1960's serving as a double-acting baking powder container for the commercial baking industry.  Part of the Universal Foods Corporation, based in Milwaukee, WI the Red Star product line first began in the late 1800's as part of a whiskey distillery business. Through a series of name changes, acquisitions and product associations Red Star emerged as a dominant baking brand by the 1950's and continues to be part of the market today.

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

- classic red, white and blue colors

- made in Milwaukee, WI.

- large size

- tight fitting lid

{CONDITION}

Bright clear graphics with normal scratches and wear/tear associated with a tin can that is over 60 years old. Some slight rusting in the interior. Base and lid are strong and sturdy. Puckered section on top of lid when can was originally opened in the 1960's does not affect the ability to close lid tightly and securely. No holes or rusted out sections. 

{SIZE}

Measures 10" inches (height) x 6.5" inches (in diameter). 

{STYLE IDEA}

It's large 10lb size means it has the ability to hold onto lots of bigger kitchen items - like long-handled utensils or fresh baguettes, dry noodles or large quantities of baking staples (like flour, sugar or dare we say, baking powder?!). 

With its tight fitting lid, it also makes for an awesome storage container for things like wood chips or kitchen rags, pet food or candles, coffee beans or ... you get the idea!
