Antique White Serving Bowl with Pink Roses and Gold Monogram Designs

Antique White Serving Bowl with Pink Roses and Gold Monogram Designs

Why hurry over beautiful things? Why not linger and enjoy them? Clara Schumann (1819-1896)

{HISTORY}

Just like the 19th-century musician Clara Schumann said above, don't hurry. At least not with this one.

Containing so many interesting and unique attributes, this antique serving bowl is a beauty in so many ways.  Containing a scalloped edge, a graceful embossed rim, swaths of shiny gold paint, six decorative art-deco-style insignias, an embossed star and a bouquet of blushing pink roses, it is hard to imagine that this bowl could get any prettier.

A mystery as to maker or manufacturer, initially here in the Vintage Kitchen we thought that the art-deco style insignias just below the rim might have been some sort of identification clue as to the provenance of the bowl. Thinking that this monogram might have possibly belonged to a hotel or a restaurant that contained the letter H in their name, we did much research but alas could find no similar dishes or markings.  Perhaps that makes this bowl an original, a one-of-a-kind, a special arrangement of artistically applied design. If that's the case, then it deserves all the more attention and all the more lingering enjoyment!

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

- Unique design

- Unmarked as to maker or manufacturer

- Colors include pink, beige, mint, sage, lavender, gold, grey, and pale blue

{CONDITION}

In lovely antique condition. There are no chips or cracks but there is some delicate crazing on the backside of the bowl. The laurel wreath designs bear some rub marks and there are some very faint utensil marks on the bottom of the bowl in the floral bouquet area.

{SIZE}

Measures 9" inches (diameter) x 2.5"inches (height) and weighs 1.5lbs.
